| New Tech fan blog: 'Shake and Bake' cooking up great future with ...
Signing Day is February 6th and Tech now has 19 known commitments, the most recent being Mobile, AL linebacker Solomon Randle. Randle joins cross town rival Adrian Cole as the only two linebackers on Coach Dooley's board. Both Randle and Cole are shorter, faster linebackers that have the speed that Defensive Coordinator Tommy Spangler covets. Randle showed offers from Navy and Arkansas State on Rivals.com and the same website currently ranks Tech's recruiting class 63rd in the nation. A big reason for the jump in ranking is Harper, who had offers from Nebraska and Texas A&M, he and former John Ehret teammate Kwame Jordan will compete for starting defensive end positions starting this spring. Harper, the 22nd best weak-side defensive end in the country according to Rivals.com, graduated in December allowing him to enroll early.Star quarterback Bret Jefcoat remained a solid commitment despite visiting Southern Mississippi.
Moore's Impact At UConn Immediate
I saw [former UConn men's coach] Dee Rowe and told him how special a player Maya was," Holy Cross coach Bill Gibbons said Wednesday. "And Dee said, 'If she were a guy, she wouldn't make it to the first exams. She'd be in the big leagues.'" "It doesn't really matter what position she plays, she's always in the right spot to make a play," UConn coach Geno Auriemma said after Moore scored 31 in 19 minutes during UConn's 91-36 win over Holy Cross Wednesday. "She just has that gift." Moore has sprinted her way onto the scene in her first two games at UConn, scoring 52 points in 39 minutes, shooting 22 of 28 from the floor, making 4 of 5 three-pointers with 15 rebounds, eight assists and eight steals. "She's not only a terrific scorer, but she's a great defender and a wonderful passer," Gibbons said.

Alexander aide: Cairns ‘out of step’ with Labour in Scotland,
A source close First Minister Alex Salmond added: "For David Cairns to dismiss the people of Scotland as the McChattering classes' is foolish and insulting, and speaks volumes for why Labour lost the election. "It is reminiscent of the dismissive way Michael Forsyth and the Tories rejected devolution - which is no doubt one of the reasons why Labour is suffering a similar fate in Scotland: out of touch and divided, and with a leadership crisis." Meanwhile, Justice Secretary Jack Straw will today give the strongest hint yet that the government may draw up Britain's first ever written constitution. In a speech to be delivered in Washington DC later today he will say that current constitutional reforms may only be a first step towards a complete overhaul of the UK's laws and principles.
Fantasy Aces: Match game
He's currently No. 3 in the world, and started this season with a runner-up finish at the the Mercedes-Benz Championship, a tie for fourth at the Sony Open and a tie for 11th last week in L.A. Go ahead, point out the fact that he lost the Mercedes to Daniel Chopra in a sudden-death playoff, which can be considered a match-play situation. But here's the best part: Stricker faces Chopra in Wednesday's first round. He will get his revenge. Ace up Soderstrom's sleeve: Scott Verplank. Picking a guy who's known for stepping it up in Ryder Cups and Presidents Cups doesn't seem like a bad choice, until you see who he's up against in Round 1: Tiger-killer Nick O'Hern. I still like the upset here. Lance Ringler's best bet: K.J.
Loathing love's day: What's wrong with Feb. 14?
Valentine's day is not about gifts, chocolates, lingerie or diamond rings. It's in place to, in some ways, make this world a little sweeter, a little tenderer. In this chaotic world we sometimes forget to tell our loved ones how important they are and how much we cherish the relationship we share. It's reminder, a boost, a inhibiter, for some, for the rest of the year. I love this day just as any other celebration because my mother growing up made it very special for me. It was about a nice supper around a well decorated table, little notes in my lunch bag. For those memories, Valentine's Day will always be special to me. To all the ones that have touched my life; I love you! .

U.S. election coverage
Barack Obama's showing was nearly as impressive. He won Connecticut, Georgia, Alabama, Delaware, Utah and his home state of Illinois. He also prevailed in caucuses in North Dakota, Minnesota, Kansas, Idaho and Colorado. While Clinton and Obama are locked in a protracted battle for delegates that is far from over, the New York senator turned back what many had predicted would be a Super surge for Obama, who had drawn tens of thousands of supporters to a series of rallies across the country in his frenetic sprint to voting day. Because of the way Democrats apportion delegates, based on the proportion of votes in congressional districts, Clinton's headline-grabbing night will not necessarily translate into a huge jump in delegate support and the two already have their sights set on crucial upcoming faceoffs in Maryland, Virginia, Ohio and Texas.
