| That's Danny Billions to you
I think it says a lot about the man when Mr. Lau from Husky stated how his negotiations went with him. He sounds like a guy who when he gives his word it's genuine. I like and respect the man. He's one of the few politicians who seem to have a vision for his Province. I wish we had more of them in Canada. Posted 25/01/08 at 7:44 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment .
GLOBAL: Countries respond to food price crisis
International wheat prices in January 2008 were 83 percent higher than a year earlier. "Wheat prices are up because it is being used as [animal] feed instead of maize, stocks of which are running low partly as a result of the increase in demand for making biofuel," said Liliana Balbi, senior economist at the FAO's Commodities and Trade Division. "In fact, maize, wheat and broken rice prices are all around the same level, which is unprecedented." Realising the urgency of the situation, the three food agencies of the UN - the FAO, the World Food Programme (WFP) and the International Fund for Agriculture development (IFAD) - are organising a High-Level Conference on World Food Security and the Challenges of Climate Change and Bioenergy from 3 to 5 June 2008 in Rome. Alexander Müller, Assistant Director-General of the FAO, announced that his organisation would host the event.

REMICADE(R) Becomes First Anti-TNF Biologic Therapy to Treat One ...
HORSHAM, Pa. and KENILWORTH, N.J., Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Centocor, Inc., Schering-Plough Corporation, and Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Corporation announced today that an estimated one million patients have now been treated with REMICADE(R) (infliximab), the leading anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha therapy worldwide. In fact, REMICADE has been used to treat more patients worldwide than all other anti-TNF-alpha agents combined. REMICADE was the first anti-TNF-alpha treatment approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), when it was indicated for the treatment of acute moderate to severe Crohn's disease in 1998. The indication for Crohn's disease was quickly followed by additional indications, such as rheumatoid arthritis. "Rheumatoid arthritis derailed my life," said Ellen Shmueli, RA patient.
Bangor-area punk bands rock out for good cause
Sometimes, the personal is political. In the case of local punk bands Clinic Bomb and USA Waste, it always is. "When I write songs, I write from personal experience," said Joanne Bolduc, vocalist for Clinic Bomb, who are based out of the Bangor area. "A song will come to me when I'm having personal problems, or my friends are, or when I'm thinking about different social issues. I try to make everything personal. Anger is a big motivating factor." Anger is also a weapon, and both Clinic Bomb and USA Waste use it to their full advantage, making straight up, hardcore-influenced political punk — the five-member Clinic Bomb since 2004, and power trio USA Waste since 1999, making the latter one of the area's longest-standing local bands. The two groups refer to each other as "brother and sister" bands, since they share most of the same politics, and at different points have shared the same musicians, like when USA Waste drummer Dub Waste joined Clinic Bomb for a year.
